Research Division

Research remains the primary focus of Masharps College in its efforts to contribute towards addressing the challenges that face South Africa and the rest of the Continent. For this purpose, Masharps has three (3) centres which conduct research on a dedicated basis and in collaboration with academics and experts from other institutions.

 Centre for Business and Entrepreneurship

This centre conducts and manages research on all matters pertaining to business and entrepreneurship. The areas of focus include the following:

• Entrepreneurship development

• Business participation

• Funding mechanisms

• Business in Africa

 Centre for Public Sector Development

The role of the public sector (national, provincial and local government) in society is huge and complex but through better understanding of their role, responsibilities and expectations, they are better positioned to deliver better results. Both the general public and the public sector employees (all levels) require to be empowered with relevant information, supported by appropriate training. This centre focuses on research that seeks to enhance such understanding through regular surveys, community engagements, contributions to government’s Green Papers, Discussion Documents and Bills.

 Centre Defence and Security Accountability

This centre focuses on matters pertaining to the security sector, which includes defence, security, and intelligence. With South Africa’s role in Africa increasing, it is crucial that matters of defence, security and intelligence are analysed on a continuous basis with a view to creating a common understanding on what can and cannot be done.
